Rite Aid Customer Care Review from Aldie, Virginia

I had a very positive experience with Rite Aid service. It concerned a "use of a manufacturer's coupon" issue. I completed the survey from my receipt and advised Rite Aid of my dissatisfaction. The next day I received a response and was referred back to the store and given the names of 3 individuals that I could speak to in order to be taken care of. I was completely satisfied with the employee's response to my complaint. I was treated very fairly and professionally. The store was located in the Crystal City VA Shops.

Unfortunately, I'm a pharmacist. We are cut down to one tech now bc your insurance reimbursement does not cover more help. In the world of getting everything quick, we are hampered by no help and 5 phone lines ringing. It's no better anywhere else. My advice.... Plan your life better so you are not in such a hurry. Order rx two or three days ahead, unless it is an acute situation like an antibiotic or you just got out of the er. Pharmacy staffing levels are so low, its impossible to give the service you want or deserve. Who is to blame? Certainly not the pharmacist trying to help 5 people at once, working a 12 hour shift with no break. The pharmacist that went to 6 years of hard college to get a doctorate degree and works nights and weekends because they want to help people with their health care. Not the cashier making 8 bucks an hour and getting brutalized all day long. It trickles down from insurance reimbursement. Next complaint should go to your insurance company. How much do the pay the pharmacy for your $ 500 rx that costs you $10. Ask them that question. Then you will understand the declining world of health care and perhaps, just perhaps you can plan your life just a tiny bit better so everything is not such a crisis. Maybe you could have dropped the prescription off and come back in a day or a few hours and not been so irritable. In the world of instant everything.... Google, order on line, McDonald's drive thru..., you are expecting instant gratification from the health care industry that would love to do it, but their hands are tied by financial constraints of YOUR INSURANCE company. Be pissed at the right people!!! 10 years ago, I had 4 Tecs and could get it to you in 10 minutes. Now we just can't.

Runaround

I went to pick up a rx, stood in line, and was told it wasn't filled and that I should go stand in another line to find out why! The other line was tied up and I went home and called the pharmacy. I was told that the script was not filled because they did not have enough to fill it but that they could give me a partial fulfillment. This is a sleep remedy. I was suppose to then go back to the pharmacy and pick up the partial. This was important because it is a sleeping pill and I would face another sleepless night without it. I declined to fight traffic back to the pharmacy and will be sleepless tonight as a result. My question: WHY WASN'T I TOLD WHEN I FIRST STOOD AT THE WINDOW THERE THAT THERE WASN'T ENOUGH BUT THEY COULD PROVIDE SOME MED??? WHY ANOTHER LINE? WHY SHOULD i HAVE TO RETURN BECAUSE THEY DID NOT SEE FIT TO TELL ME THE SITUATION WHEN I WAS THERE?? LASTLY, WHY DOESN'T THE PHARMACY HAVE ENOUGH OF THE MED AND WHY SHOULD ANY PATIENT HAVE TO WAIT THROUGH THE WEEKEND TO GET THEIR RX FILLED? HOW MEDICALLY EFFICACIOUS IS THAT?

I am a pharmacist. Not this company...

But they are all the same. We go to college....pure science and math, for 6 years. Yes. We have a Doctorate.

We work 12 hour shifts with no breaks. We work nights, weekends, and holidays. Why??? For the money???

Someone with an equal degree has normal hours, a normal life and makes much more. No, we do it because we care about people and love to help them with their health care.

Went to rite Aid on sutphin Blvd looking to buy nicorette gum and I was ask to prove my age,I'm 57 years old and left my ID home, I try to explain to the store mgr. My situation trying to quit smoking, not only I was treated with disrespect and treated like a child.

I think who ever over see the trainning of the staff should retrain them. I will no longer shop there that will include my medications.

I went to a local pharmacy and was assisted like a person. Enough said good buy rite Aid and I will never recommend your stores.

I came to the company as a cashier with K&B in 1995 as a pharmacy student and stayed with the company until I was a pharmacy manager in a store in Petal MS where we filled approx. 2000 plus rx per week.

I had two staff pharmacists and 10 techs full and part time. I truly felt that I would retire from that store until Joe westfall became our PDm. He is NOT a PHARMACIST and knew nothing of the profession but felt he knew ALL of the business end and that was what he pushed and pushed and pushed until he pushed me out and I left the company I loved to go to an independent down the street with none of the JOE needling and harassing.

Rite-aid needs to adopt the NO PDM unless the person has been a pharmacist policy chain-wide and maybe some of us would be career long employees.

I'm sad to be gone from the company and would love to have had the chance to retire there but Joe made me feel that I could never measure up and could never make the grade even though I had the number one or two store in his district every year I was under his dreadful supervision. A business major has no place in pharmacy management in a major PHARMACY chain.

The reason these pharmacists can't adapt to Joe's management style is because they can't meet the expectations of the company. Joe has been a great PDM, he understands and ensures his teams are compliant in all areas of pharmacy compliance.

He has given me more insite to pharmacy operations then my past 'licensed' PDM's. Some people just can't adapt to change, even when it's in their best interest. Joe has helped me become a better pharmacist and better manager.

He has always been straight forward and gaven me great direction. I feel he always has my back and will be there to help me through any situation.

I work for Kmart Pharmacy and we are having the same issues you described above with Joe Westfall. There is NO place for a business major who doesn't have a pharmacy background to be managing pharmacists who are far more educated and understand the meaning of patient care.

He lacks proper judgment and has had to go back on his words several times with several pharmacists in the company.

Poor choice Kmart Corp and poor Kmart pharmacists, many of whom are leaving because of Joe Westfall and his shortcomings.
